DESCRIPTION Ben Hunter - “Nightwatch” West Canterbury Record Co. No Catalog Number (Mono) from 1960. Hard to Find Original 1960 Private First Pressing Exotica / Poetry / Spoken Word album from Los Angeles area Radio and Television personality / host / DJ. The album consists of Hunter reading Poems, Stories and other musings submitted by his Radio listeners including Roscoe Fleming, Cecile Bonham, Thomas Hornsby Ferril, Harley Hoyt, Exter Baldwind York and Joseph Andrew Gallahad to Korla Pandit-esque Organ background music. Most of the authors are were fairly well known in the day but are mostly unknown now. The subjects range from comical to macabre but all fit in with the “Nightwatch” theme or feeling. In the Original Cover with NO Barcode, Cutouts or Promo markings. CONDITION The Sleeve is in good shape. There is some fairly slight shelf wear and corner softening / wear. The top seam is split and has been celo taped. Still solid with no other splits, stains, tears, writing, etc. and would rate VG overall. The Vinyl is in clean, Glossy condition looking lightly played. If you look closely you can spot a few light scuffs and a couple faint hairlines - no actual scratches i.e. something felt with a fingernail. Still very close to New condition. At least EX visually if not Near Mint and plays pretty much perfectly NM. The labels show some light spindle trails but are otherwise NM. If I provide Play Grades it is done as a courtesy but I only guarantee the Visual Grade. If you are not familiar with this grading system (or even if you think you are!), please check it out before bidding. I have summarized the important (i.e. I think everyone knows what Mint means) points below in Goldmine's words: Very Good Plus (VG+): Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK. Very Good (VG): Surface noise will be evident upon playing,... Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. I stand by my grades but would like us to be on the same page so no problems arise. I have been selling Vintage Vinyl for over twenty years on the net and I can count the returns I've had on one hand so I believe my grading is fair and accurate. One important note, I try to grade to these Goldmine guides as best as I can understand and apply them. This gives us both a written standard to go by rather than having to guess. But.... it also means that I don't issue refunds over differences of opinion in grading i.e. "That's not MY idea of a VG record!" - I don't know what your standards are and, as such, can't grade to them. I guarantee that items I sell will meet my description, nothing more or less!
