Description: This full 60 inch strand of very old "green hearts," historically known as Cournaline ("blood") D'Aleppo trade beads is a stunning piece of history. The circa 1810-1860 Italian-made glass beads shows beads that werer beautifully drawn of cased glass that was then broken and tumbled, creating a unique and timeless style. The interior layers of glass in these beads includes either type of green glass in use back then - a light lime green (less common) and a dark turquoise green. These beads are perfect for collectors who then would like to share the history. The strand is graduated, the beads range in size from 3 mm by 5 mm up to 6.5 mm by 16.5 mm (the long tube that has light green glass), and is strung and wrapped in cotton, the less common method used by traders back in the day as raffia became more common. Be sure to look at my other items because I combine as many items as I can safely pack in one box. It saves a bundle on postage, especially on beads and other small items. I charge no fees other than what the USPS charges for postage, regardless how many separate listings are purchased by you. If the total weight makes the USPS charge more, then I do pass that along to you. I typically choose to uses USPS Ground Advantage but if I think the small things are worth it, I’ll charge Priority; you can always ask that I adjust the invoice. Please realize that the USPS doesn’t recognize “fragile”; 3 different clerks have told me “we don’t have a fragile class of mail.” Sorry, no returns. Documentation is reference to established research through published literature, journals, books, photographs, and scientists. Holding antique beads make me think of the hands of generations, their meaning as talismans, religious protection, their use as money, their origins, and the people who held them before me.
