Description: BIG BLOCK CHEVY BRACKET SET SHORT WATER PUMP: This is our latest Release: Our Bracket Kit for a Big Block Chevy using a Short Water Pump. This Set includes complete bracket kits to mount both the Alternator and Power Steering pump. They are both positioned high enough to clear A-Arms, Steering box, or your Frame. This Kit requires a double groove pulley on both the crank and water pump. Our Brackets are CNC machined from 6061-T6 Billet Aluminum. The edges have a smooth machined finish and the flat surfaces have a beautiful brushed satin finish. This is a great looking, solid design we developed at the request of many of our customers. It will be a nice finishing touch for your street rod or muscle car. This Kit includes brackets and mounting hardware only: Alternator, PS pump, pulleys, or belts are NOT included. ALTERNATOR BRACKET: This bracket bolts to the two holes in the passenger’s side head. It positions your standard size (1965-1985) GM, or an aftermarket 1-wire alternator outboard of the head and slightly back so the belt will line up with the 1st crank pulley groove (closest to the harmonic balancer). -------------------- There are (3) variations of this bracket kit due to different hole sizes in Chevy Heads: (front of the passenger side head) You can select one of these during checkout '65 to ‘72 Heads: These have (2) 7/16” holes’73 and newer Heads: These have (1) 7/16” hole (bottom) and (1) 3/8” hole (top)Aftermarket Aluminum Heads: These have (2) 3/8” holes Check before you order: Our brackets are machined for your heads and the hardware supplied fits only one type. This Kit uses a #7555 V-Belt POWER STEERING BRACKET: This bracket bolts to the 2 holes in the driver’s side head. It positions your GM Power Steering Pump at the same height as your alternator. It is positioned outboard of the head and slightly back so the belt will line up with the 2nd crank pulley groove. This Kit uses a #7570 V-Belt GM (Saginaw) Power Steering Pumps Do I need a power steering pump with a press fit pulley or a pump that has a keyed and threaded shaft? Either style will work with our bracket kit. If you are going to install a chrome or aluminum pulley, you will find the pump with the keyed/threaded shaft will be much easier to work with. The pulley will slide easily on and off, making installation of the pump and pulley much easier. The pumps with a Keyed /threaded shaft were used from the mid 60’s into the late 70’s depending on the vehicle. In the 60’s the pump housing had an oval shaped fill tube. By 1970 they had changed over to the more common banjo design. GM started changing over to the press fit pulley in the mid 70’s.. Later GM changed to a “metric” pump. The mounting holes are in the same location, but the fittings and mounting holes have metric threads. If you have a metric pump: please leave a note during checkout and we will send you metric bolts. Both styles have the same mounting holes and are interchangeable for the purposes of mounting with our brackets. There are differences in the location and shape of the return tube for the various car models, and some trucks with hydroboost brakes had a dual return. There are a few pumps that have a slightly different location for one of the mounting holes. These are not very common, but to make sure your pump will fit our bracket: measure the hole to hole spacing on the 2 holes that are used to mount the pump, It should be 3.79” center to center (just over 3 ¾”) If you happen to have a non-standard pump, it would be about 3 ½”. You may want to just buy a rebuilt pump that will fit. (less than $50) The pump shown in photo is for a ‘70 Camaro with a 350. Very easy to obtain at your local parts store. Guaranteed to fit! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *** Price Includes Free shipping anywhere in the U.S.A. *** Installation of our bracket kits requires a competent mechanic. Our Bracket kits typically cover more than a 20 year span of engine and car models. We strive for a perfect fit, but with differences in blocks, heads, aftermarket parts, alternators, power steering pumps, harmonic balancers, etc. it is impossible to get a perfect fit 100% of the time. If for any reason your kit does not fit perfectly, contact us before forcing or damaging. We have selected bolts and spacers for our kits that should work 99% of the time… but there may be situations where you may need a custom bolt or spacer. We will be happy to supply those for you to ensure a perfect fit.
