They've made this same model, with few changes, from 1963-around 1990. I date this model to around late 1960's, based on provenance. The Bates model 88P is made of pressed steel and a hand grip consisting of a type of plastic. It weighs 6.4 ounces empty and measures 4.625 inches long by 4.75 inches high by 1 inch wide. While the magazine and base were always in chrome, the body and handle were colored. The 88P was available in beige, black, brown, grey, red, and yellow.
