There are 7 poseable dolls that are based on different personality traits. The characters are Glam, Cutie, Girly, Wild, Sassy, Artsy and Hottie. The dolls feature 12 points of movements (including the wrists, elbows and waist) so they are capable of doing more than 100 poses.[1] The Ken Fashionistas Hottie Doll had less articulation points. Before the dolls were released, Artsy, Cutie, Sassy and Hottie appeared in the music video for the doll line's launch song, "The Barbie", which was based on the song "Barbie Girl" by Aqua.[2]. A version of the song was also used in commercials for the dolls. An August press release said that JaQuel Knight choreographed a dance routine for "The Barbie", and the music video was filmed in New York in July 2009. The music video aimed to show the articulation points of the dolls, as well as start a dance craze. It premiered on the Today Show.[3] The music video is no longer able to be viewed on the official Barbie YouTube channel.[4]A browser game named Barbie Fashionistas Photo Shoot Game was on Barbie.com.[5] The Barbie Girls website had a Barbie Fashionistas quiz, and also Barbie Fashionistas clothing and necklaces.
