Description: AVRO ANSON MK I IN WORLDWIDE SERVICE WINGLEADER PHOTO ARCHIVE 25by Andrew Thomas, 72 pages, approx 120 photos and 6 colour profilesThe ‘Annie’ entered service with the RAF in spring 1936 as a Maritime Reconnaissance aircraft. By the outbreak of war however, it was pretty obsolete. With a maximum speed of just 188 mph, the odds of it surviving an encounter with German fighters were extremely small; and so the Anson was reassigned into the training role, where hundreds of them tootled up and down the country, with student pilots and navigators learning their trade inside. The Air Transport Auxiliary also made great use of the Anson as a taxi to ferry its pilots to and from airfields as they delivered fighters and bombers to the RAF. By all accounts, it was a safe and easy aircraft to fly.Although there were over 20 different Mks of Anson built, the vast majority were MkIs and so that is what this book concentrates on. It saw service worldwide so we have tried to include as many overseas operators as possible, especially as modellers now have the new Airfix kit to find colour schemes for. All books are entirely in English unless noted otherwise. Winner pays $5.50 shipping within the US. I combine purchases and the rate goes way down after the first book purchased. International orders billed at cost. I will ship anywhere in the world. If you have any questions about payment options please contact me. I SHIP ANYWHERE ON THIS PLANET.Be assured, though I may not always have the lowest price, you will not get any cheap bookclub editions from me on ebay. I've been selling books for many many years and I can spot cheap bookclubs a mile away. Hand me a book and I'll tell you straight off if it's a bookclub edition. Sometimes it can be hard for most booksellers to know if it's a bookclub, like university press books. They don't normally put the price on the jacket for the publisher's edition, but most of them do use full or partial cloth binding, whereas the bookclub edition will be simply cheap board covers. Though let's face it, most of the publisher's editions these days aren't all that great in quality either, the bookclubs are even worse! Please look at my ebay store where many similar titles are available.
