The large fully signed and dated certificate was mailed to the first passengers to commemorate their flight New York to/from Los Angeles, when the nonstop was able to go both ways between Los Angeles and New York. The certificate is for being a Pioneer in nonstop Transcontinental Travel between New York and Los Angles. The nonstop mercury service was aboard the Douglas DC-7. The certificate is dated the 30th day of December 1953. As you will recall the first transcontinental flight done 2 months earlier was only one way from Los Angeles to New York. After 2 months of adjustments the flights went both ways. The certificate shows flights going both ways. The certificate is in overall very good condition with some bend stains on the edge.
