Australian Pottery Bakewells "Trent Art Ware" Bowl c.1950

Description: Australian Pottery Bakewells "Trent Art Ware" Bowl c.1950 Bakewell Pottery operated in Erskineville Sydney NSW Australia from 1884-1955. “Bakewell Brothers Ltd was established by William Bakewell, born in England in Nottingham county, who began making bricks and pipes on the Erskineville site in around 1884. The firm gradually developed to include the manufacture of tiles, pots, jars and other domestic and commercial wares. They started to make domestic pottery early in the 1890s. Bakewell's Trent Art Ware range was produced from around 1935 yet I have not been able to determine an actual start date. There are a number pieces attributed to the 1930s and yet other websites state that this range did not start until 1950. This is a fine Cream Brown Bowl with the shape number 204 impressed into the base. It also has the "Trent Art Ware Made in Australia" mark printed to the base. It measures 20cm across by 9cm high. (7 7/8in x 3 1/2in) Weighs 792g. CONDITION - In good original condition with no faults. There is fine crazing visible but only in the darker brown colour, it fades out as the colours change into the lighter cream colour and there is little crazing to the base. ....A very attractive and well thrown bowl.... >>>>>>2118<<<<<< We guarantee our descriptions are accurate and our prices competitive.
