The original magazine, which was edited and published by important American pulp figure, "Captain Billy" Fawcett (1885-1940), combined nonfiction articles with stories and targeted women audiences with astrological and numerological love predictions, romance in the stories, and a spiritual bent. The magazine was also an early outlet for the stories of August Derleth, who acted as associate editor and wrote under the name of "Tally Mason."
