(This paper is recommended by the Library of Congress for archives)The world's only direct camera folio editionAs seen in The New York Times and The Royal Society of London Princeton prints are said to be the finest Audubon folio sized lithographs ever produced. William Steiner says, "True prints, great colors, incredible detail. Simply the finest Audubon facsimiles ever produced!" You may see more reviews at princetonaudubonprints. Princetons are the world's only direct camera capture Audubon full size lithographs. We purchased the original prints, generally from Sotheby's auction house, and then physically used the original to produce this outstanding edition. Far beyond common reproductions, the direct camera process allows for an infinite 1 to 1 capture of detail. This is due to the initial step of using film that is the same size as the original antique print. This absolutely exact image was then transferred to the printing plates. The Royal Society of London, of which Audubon was a fellow, chose Princeton prints to display in Chicheley Hall, a 300 year old estate in Buckinghamshire, England, which is the home of their International Science Conference Center. You will notice the initials FRS at the bottom left of all untrimmed folio originals. These stand for Fellow, Royal Society. We think that choosing Princetons to display along with their own originals is a fine recommendation. Martha Stewart Living asked to frame one of our prints for a magazine spread. You may see pictures of the result on our website, princetonaudubonprints. "Of all the Audubon reproductions, Princetons come the closest in appearance and quality to the originals." Chris Lane, owner of Philadelphia Print Shop West and guest appraiser on PBS Antiques Roadshow. Princetons were produced by the late David Johnson, a Master Printer and collector of Audubon originals who owned the paramount printing company in the country - Princeton Polychrome Press. This company, now sold, achieved an enviable nationwide reputation by reproducing fine art prints for the National Gallery of Art, National Portrait Gallery, Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Whitney Museum of American Art, The Detroit Institute of Arts and many more.If you are looking for a work of fine art, and not simply an Audubon "type" picture, we invite you to consider the fine art prints on our website. We recommend conservation framing. An accent lamp mounted to the frame will also add much to your viewing pleasure.Questions? Please contact us through eBay or use contact info on website.
