PAPER MEASURES 6.5 X 10 (Sight) VERY GOOD TO EXCELLENT condition, with no defects to report. As usual, one edge is slightly uneven from being removed from the binding. Minor bit of toning to the creamy white background. This is a hand-colored print - #76 - from the royal octavo first edition of John JamesAudubon's Birds of America, published 1840-1844. Yellow-crowned Wood-Warbler, with a plain white background (not a tinted background), as required. The first octavo edition was produced under the direct supervision of John James Audubon and features strictly hand-coloring. The credits are in BLOCK LETTERS, as required for plates numbered 1-150 of the first edition. Comes in a plastic protector, and will be sandwiched between wider foam boards for mailing.
