Chrome knob tightens a stopper to hold pole in place. This is a 60's era STERN LIGHT BASE that was made by ATTWOOD. It is new old stock (just minor shelf wear) and accepts a 3/4" diameter pole. This is a great design with the thumb screw tensioner to lock in the adjustable pole height at any you desire. Hope you can use it. Works well with many old design stern lights with a 3/4" diameter pole from the 50's-70's era.
