To learn more about us please click on our profile ON DEMAND WE ISSUE A CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY (money-back-guarantee) Post-mortem miniature portrait (in fact, a partial copy after the life-size oil portrait by Francesco Terzio (1523-1591)) of Archduchess Magdalena of Austria (1532-1590), daughter of Kaiser (Emperor) Ferdinand I and his wife Anna of Hungary. After the death of her father she founded in 1564 Royal Diocese in Hall in Tyrol, which she headed until her death. Our additional images provide her extensive biography and show other portraits of her. Like the miniature in House Habsburg Collection (Vienna) our portrait is with a very great possibility work of the same, early-18th-century artist Johann Jakob Wellagitsch. Johann Jakob Wellagitsch was born into a Turkish family. He was active as a miniaturist in Vienna, before he moved to Munich in 1721 where he was appointed court artist of Elector Max Emanuel of Bavaria. He was also an owner of a collection of portrait miniatures by other artists. He died in Munich in 1751 and was buried at St. Peter Church. Works of his are extremely rare on current antique market (no auction records in the last 50 years!).
