A few days after the inauguration, the building was destroyed by fire. Between 1919 and 1920 the branches in Turin, Genoa, Bologna, Florence, Rome, Naples and Palermo reopened and were renovated. Warehouse mail order catalogues To the cities of Italy by the Bocconi brothers were published and sent every two months. The most important issues were those in April and October, which advertised the spring/summer and autumn/winter season collections respectively. The other issues were dedicated to periodic events – the end-of-season sales, the “white goods fair”, the Christmas gifts – or to specific products such as underwear, household linen and furnishing fabrics.
