This PS3 has been in my family for years and has been used frequently. HOWEVER. This model no longer works as intended. Its video sometimes glitches out with green stripes, and the internet doesn't work at all. If you can fix this, it'll be as good as new. The video posted shows the boot-up sequence of this PS3 (when it *does* work). I've opened up the PS3 and gave it an excellent deep-cleaning. All parts have been taken apart, dusted off, and cleaned with a tooth-brush and 95% Isopropyl Alcohol. I replaced any thermal pads with "Thermal Grizzly Minus-Pad 8" and any thermal paste with "Arctic MX-6 Thermal Paste". This extra cleanup should extend its life span by some margin, hopefully. (NOTE: I invested in cleaning the unit before I realized there was any issues with it.) Even if you do fix the PS3's current problems, the Yellow Light of Death comes for us all, and while the PS3 is hasn't had that particular issue, I guarantee you that one day in the future, this PS3 will succumb to it. It might be in a few months, it might be a in a few years. But fret not, you can resell a broken backwards-compatible PS3 for around 80 dollars and keep any save data from your hard drive. After all, people have learned how to fix the Yellow Light of Death. (It is not an easy fix)
