Description: ABOUT MR. BUMBLE (BEADLE & BARRISTER). He was a Charles Dickens character from his novel OLIVER TWIST. The meaning of BEADLE is a minor parish official whose duties include ushering and preserving order at services and sometimes civil functions. He was portrayed as the pompous, self-important beadle—a minor church official—for the workhouse where Oliver is born. Although Mr. Bumble preaches Christian morality, he behaves without compassion toward the paupers under his care. Dickens mercilessly satirizes his self-righteousness, greed, hypocrisy, and folly, of which his name is an obvious symbol. The figurine for auction here features the portrait of this man fittingly and proper, with a mean-spirited expression on his face and a threatening postering stance as he poses in arrogance and evilness. The figurine is made from bone china and was created by the ARTONE company and hand painted in England as marked on the bottom. Enjoy a bit of whimsy and humor when you show your fun side with this unique small figurine on display, perhaps next to the Dickens book you always meant to read. This figurine is dated from the 1980 based on research. It measures approximately 4.5" tall, and has a base of 2" X 1.75", very nicely balanced. Look at the pictures closely! I Please see photos. This is the item you will be receiving, and I hope not to get it back for any reason. If you have any questions, please write and ask before bidding. BY PLACING A BID ON OR PURCHASING AN ITEM YOU AGREE THAT YOU HAVE READ AND UNDERSTAND AND ACCEPT ALL TERMS AND CONDITIONS AS STATED BELOW. VERY IMPORTANT: The SHIPPING CARRIER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR LOST OR DAMAGED ITEMS WHEN ITEMS ARE INSURED. Any insurance claims or monetary claims for items damaged during transit will be strictly between the buyer and the freight company in question. I pack items with care but when the carrier takes possession, I can’t guarantee safety. In the unlikely event that an item is damaged during shipping transit, You, the Buyer, agree to file the insurance claim with the U.S. Post Office for reimbursement. I will send you the necessary receipts for you to file a claim with the Post Office. It is YOUR responsibility to file a claim for any insured items that are damaged because that is what Insurance is purchased for. This is the U.S. Post Office requirement, and this information is found on their web site on the “File A Claim” page. I can NOT file claims with the Post Office for you. E Bay might tell you differently, but the U.S. Postal Regulations and Requirements are very clear. In order for the claim to be processed with the Post Office, the receiver of the damaged item must file the claim at their local Post Office or you may file online. You will need to keep the damaged item, the box with the labels on it, and all of the original packing materials as the Post Office may require them for proof of damage. If the item is broken or damaged during shipping (I ALWAYS inspect everything before it leaves here) and there is insurance on the item, the claim must be started at the buyer's location and should not be returned to me. Always contact me to make sure that you have everything you need to do this. I wrap very well and don't expect there to be any problems.
