Description: Archeological investigations of five remote tracts of land within Denali National Park and Preserve, Alaska: 1988, 1989 by Alice J. Lynch. Softcover, 183 pages. Between 1988 and 1989, National Park Service archeologists from the Cultural Resources Division of the Alaska Regional Office conducted a series of intensive archeological surveys within Denali National Park and Preserve. The surveys focused on five tracts of land (land exchange units) that the National Park Service planned to transfer to the state of Alaska. The surveys were designed to inventory and assess cultural resources within the units prior to conveyance. Twenty-two archeological and historic sites were recorded during these investigations, including nine sites found adjacent to designated land exchange units. The recorded sites constitute a valuable addition to the archeological database of the park and surrounding region.
