Description: Here is a pair of superb American Optical microscope objectives, Catalog Numbers 1014 and 1016. These objectives are very hard to find, especially as a matched set. Both objectives are infinity corrected and both are Plan Achro. Cat. 1014 is a 100X objective, oil immersion, with an iris diaphragm for darkfield microscopy. Cat. 1016 is a 50X objective, oil immersion, with iris diaphragm. Either objective can be used either for normal brightfield microscopy, or they can be used to provide brilliant darkfield images. For darkfield use, the iris diaphragm are closed down to complement the numerical aperture of an appropriate darkfield condenser. I have personally tested both these objectives using oil immersion on my own equipment, and they are superb. They are very clean and look to have been used very little. The iris diaphragms of both objectives operate smoothly and easily.
