Description: Antique/Vtg 7" Diameter Shoo-Fly Tin & Screen Food Plate/Bowl Cover Early 1900s Click image to enlarge Description Offered for your consideration is an antique or vintage bowl or dish cover. From the early to mid 1900s, this is an original screen and tin cover with a white porcelain knob. The diameter of the opening is about at 7" and it stands about 4" tall and would cover a small bowl or side plate. These screens were very popular to keep flies and bugs off of food, as there was little refrigeration, and many items were left on the counter, table or stove. Many of these like items were homemade, and I do not detect any mark of maker or origin. The screen is in good to very good "as found" condition, showing use and handling, with some breaks in the wires at the knob (see pics 10, 11, & 12). It has a weight of about 5 ounces.
