Description: I'm not even sure how to describe these and they look like they were once part of a book. Anyway, each piece consists of 2 pages--one of onionskin with the writing, and one of matte board with the image. The pages and matte boards are all the same size--9" wide x 11-1/4" high. The photogravure images are in black & white. "Sydney Carton"From the Dickens "Tale of Two Cities", the onionskin page contains 3 paragraphs from the book. The edges of the paper are rough and worn. "XVI" is at the bottom of the page (plate #?). The photogravure image is of a man climbing steps (for a hanging?). It is by "Frederick Barnard and the board also reads "Photogravure Goupil & Co" as well as "Printed on the Hess Press". The actual image measures about 5-1/2" wide x 7" high and is in a portrait orientation. There is water spotting on the matte board. "Elaine"From Tennyson's poem "Elaine". "XXIX" is present at the bottom of the onionskin page, whose edges are round and the bottom, right corner is missing. The matte page is an image of a dead woman on a boat. It is titled "Elain" by Toby G. Kaschibat (?), Munich 1871. The image on the board is 7-7/8" wide x 4-7/8" high and there is water damage present. There is a bend in the board at the upper left corner. On the board is printed "by permission of the Berlin Photographic Co." This image is in the landscape orientation. I have tried to describe any issues with this item as much as possible. I can post additional photos upon request and will try to answer any questions you might have that weren't addressed above. If you want to purchase more than one item, let me know and I will wait until your purchases are complete, then I will send a single invoice with one shipping charge.
