This lovely 2 piece item was created in Ohio County, West Virginia. The owner of the company had background experience from the UK, Staffordshire. Wheeling Pottery is a highly collectible antique. Wheeling Pottery Co Adamantine was the precursor to LA Belle Pottery, and is a semi porcelain product. This one, a biscuit jar (we call them cookie jars these days) is standard size at 8 inches tall and almost 4 inches in diameter, with original lid. The side photos are produced here to illustrate the high quality of casting or production with design to the shape as well as the hand painted design. The colors of pink, yellow, brown and green are used in the nature garden decoration; including tulips, wild roses, leaves and stems. The embossed areas on the canister and lid create additional visual interest. The lid has a small handle. The jar itself features handles on each side. i found it interesting that the word “adamantine” means unyielding, unbreakable, having the hardness of a diamond. As a noun, adamantine is rare, expensive and used in the making of armor. It is 8 inches tall by 3 inches diameter.
