It does show wear and can be a bit wobbly, so if using as a storage box or to make a table, etc it would need more stabilizing. The bottom was cut open originally, which has left a rough wood edge and sharp metal edge, so use gloves when handling. Interesting that this was a tea shipping crate from India and later used as a book shipping crate from Dublin to the USA. :) Nice history!
