Description: This item is an antique vintage right-handed 37" iron. It is an early smooth face niblick/wedge. Made by Tom Stewart of St Andrews Scotland. No registration below the pipe mark so it qualifies for play in all gutty events. Made for the pro R W Kirk while he was at Wallasey. The head is clean and not all rusted. It does have the expected minor play nicks and dings and an even dark patina. Please look at the many zoom pictures for a better idea of condition. The shaft is an old hickory. The shaft is straight, I see no cracks and it is tight at the hosel. All hickory shafted clubs should be re-set prior to play. Feels like a stiff flex. The grip is a newer long leather wrap that is set up for play. 49* loft and an E 4 swingweight. Looks like someone was already using it for play. If you are considering playing with this club all wooden shafted irons should be re-set prior to play. While I see no issues with the shaft (other than those mentioned above), I suggest that whipping be added just above the hosel to help prevent breakage. These wooden shafts often have hidden defects and are liable to break at any time. I do not guarantee wooden shafts against breakage when put into play. Never hit an old wooden shafted club off a driving range mat. Never hit an old wooden shafted wood with a hard range ball. Shipping in the US is calculated and based on a 3-pound box.
