Antique Vintage Hickory Shaft Maxwell Rustless Flanged Sole Mashie Scotland

Description: This item is a 35" right-handed hickory shafted iron. It is a wide flanged sole Maxwell mashie. 38* loft and an A 6 swingweight. This club is short for a mashie and will have much better weight if extended to full length. Made D Anderson & Sons St Andrews. The rustless metal head is clean and not all rusted. It does have the expected play nicks and dings. Please look at the many zoom pictures to get a better idea of condition. The shaft is an old apparently original hickory. It has a bend, I see no cracks and it has some play at the hosel. All hickory shafted clubs should be re-set prior to play. The grip is an old long leather wrap that is in fair vintage condition and is loose at the top. If you are considering playing with this club, while I see no issues with this hickory shaft (other than those mentioned above), I suggest that whipping be added just above the hosel to help prevent breakage. These hickory shafts often have hidden defects and are liable to break at any time. I do not guarantee hickory shafts against breakage when put into play. Never hit an old hickory shafted club off a driving range mat. Never hit an old hickory shafted wood with a hard range ball.Shipping in the US is calculated and based on a 3-pound box.
