There are no cracks or breaks. The item could do with a clean on the metal parts the tape is mechanical. It retracts when you turn the cherub. The actual tape is silk inches are marked on one side and centimeters are marked on the other. The silk appears to be all there. The pull tab is present and appears to be original to the piece. The tape is approx. 2" tall and is 1 1/2" wide. Hard one to find.
