Description: Up for sale is an antique set of folding glasses. They could be considered Lorgnette glasses and are attached to a very long chain of beautiful jet glass beads. The beads are on thread, individually knotted and the chain is 62" long. It loops around and there is a clasp at the end that attaches to the glasses. One side of the frames was broken and looks like it was glued back together in areas on the lens. I see three areas. The frame seems brittle and fragile. The beads show imperfections, accurate for the time period, but are in nice shape. I'm wondering if these could have been used in a long mourning period with the jet glass, but I have no idea- just a neat piece!
