Description: Antique Victorian Breakfront Mahogany China Cabinet Carved Hutch Armoire c.1880 From an estate near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, we have this monumental breakfront for sale. It has 3 doors, a fantastic hand carved arched top, a carved wood laurel leaf wreath onlay, rosette onlays, fluted pillar columns, and bun feet. The two side cabinets each have 5 or 6 wooden shelves for storage. The middle cabinet has 4 curved wooden sheves with a ridge at back to hold up plates or pictures. The door of the middle cabinet is heavy glass so you can showcase the items inside. Each door has an inset brass lock with the marking WILH HAAF ELBERFELD, which dates the piece to the late 1800's. The middle doorknob is original; you turn the knob to open the door. The side door knobs are replacements, and also turn to open the door. The key to lock the doors is missing. The right door does not latch and will swing open unless a small paper is wedged at the top to hold it closed. The thin trim on the top of the right side is missing, as shown in the third photo. All in all this is a one of a kind, truly grand breakfront in very good antique condition. The construction of this breakfront is such that it can be moved in pieces. There are only two screws in the entire piece of furniture; everything else is held together with dowels. The breakfront breaks down into three separate sections. The top comes completely off, the doors and sides lift apart from each other into flat panels, and the bottom is one solid separate piece. You should have no trouble fitting this through doorways and into any room, so long as the ceiling is high enough to contain the re-assembled structure.
