Description: Gorgeous Victorian Lava Cameo in Solid 14K Yellow Gold. A splendid 19th century grand tour piece that features an expertly carved Putti/ Angel. A depiction of love, the angel may be attributed to cupid. Visiting the Pompeiian ruins was one of One of Italy's main attraction for European travelers on the grand tour. These cameos were purchased by the wealthy to serve as souvenirs , conversation pieces and evidence of their opulent trips. This carving is very early antique , and carved high above its bezel. The charming putti figure is in a stitting position with its Large wings at the back. The wide golden bezel has beautiful braid motif around the frame. There is a simple functioning C clasp. The pin part also extends beyond the edge of the brooch. These details points this piece to over 100 years old. Nothing beats the charm, beautuly and quality of an historically accurate piece.
