Description: FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION ~~ Antique MUSEUM QUALITY 1880's A.A. VANTINE @ CO. ORIENTAL HAND MADE BRASS / BRONZED ORIENTAL OIL KEROSENE TABLE LAMP . Ashley A. Vantine, the well-known importer of Oriental goods and looks like he brought it from Japan. Mr. Vantine was born Oct 12, 1821, at Chazy, Clinton County, N.Y., and when a young man he went to California, making the trip around Cape Horn in a clipper ship. On reaching California he established a general provision and supply business at San Francisco, and afterward opened a branch establishment at Marysville, Cal. These enterprises were successful and he continued in California until 1869, when he came to New-York and established himself in the Oriental goods business, opening a store on Broadway, near Eighth-street. A few years later he moved to 831 Broadway, and from there, in 1883, to 879 Broadway, where the firm, A.A. Vantine & Co., has done business since. I purchased this fabulous antique lamp at the Antique Show in SAN FRANCISCO.Please check the internet and you find a lot of information about this CO. The glass shade is original in good vintage condition. The are some dents ( as usual) on the brass part for oil, but they are not significant and without any holes. I am not sure about hurricane clear glass shade, may be it is replasement . Please see the picture, they are part of description. APPROX.
