On the top some minor etched details remain, suggesting possible initials and / or dating. There are signs that markings were scratched out at at least 5 places on top and 6 at the undersideIt is quite a mystery why this was necessary. We may guess that it could've been English, and the markings removed by the early American patriots, or it could've been stolen and made unrecognizableAnyway, a really RARE and unique curiosity item with interesting historyThere are scratched numbers 1746 6 / MRL/ 1466, most likely collector's inventory number Circa 18th century, found in New York stateAll original PLEASE SCROLL DOWN THE PAGE FOR MORE PHOTOS!
