Description: AMAZING ANTIQUE VINTAGE TEXTILE FELT TRAVEL PENNANT New England Banners. This is an incredible 52 inch in diameter textile round made of 20 commemorative banners from various states and attractions across New England. Very well made. Has quilted backing, missing 1 banner. One of the pennants is from the Eastern States Expo which first opened in 1917, the first Woodstock Fair was in 1860. Revere Beach, Webster Lake appearing in it's Indian name, Salisbury Beach, Mohawk Trail, Ice Capades, Rocky Point Park, New Bedford, Providence, Southbridge, Ocean Beach, Hartford etc. I believe Webster Lake has been referred to as Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg since 1921, longest name of any geographic feature in the United States.. I would guess these travel pennants are from the 1930's and 1940's. Some of these pennants are very rare, never come to market. Some wear but overall in exceptional condition, no stains, no odors, holding together nicely, nice and strong.
