(11.5cm)Condition: very good!Vairocana is regarded as the Dharmakaya (true body) of the historical Gautama Buddha. This antique bronze statue of the Great Illuminator is well-cast and hand-traced, with an aged patina on lacquered copper and gold. It incorporates Newari and Tibetan Buddhist art traditions and design motifs. With his hair arranged in rows of tiny snail-curls on a high domed usnisa, the supreme Buddha is wearing a traditional sangha, seated in dhyanasana on a double-lotus with a gold Dorji placed in front, his almond-shaped eyes downcast in serene meditation, as his sensitively modeled hands perform the mudra of the wheel-turning Dharmachakra, which in changing angles appears to be in motions, and that one can almost see the Dharma wheel spinning between his fingertips. Sealed with a Viswavajra repousse on copper plate, this aged bronze Vairocana is lively and dynamic with grace and presence, whose serene qualities are brilliantly evoked in this impeccably finished bronze. *Authenticity Guaranteed.
