Description: ANTIQUE-Stevens & Williams Intaglio-Wine Stem Green-Joshua Hodgetts ENGRAVED Champagne Stem Green to Clear This wine stem epitomizes the beauty and quality of Stevens & Williams Intaglio cut engraved glass. Flowers, scrolls, & draped ribbons decorate this lovely rare stem glass bowl and foot base. The stem has three knobs below the bowl. Center large ball knob cased by two smaller knobs cut with bulls eye, in addition the stand / foot of this stem is the same skilled intaglio pattern complementing the bowl. The bottom of the foot is polished. Made in STOURBRIDGE , ENGLAND by STEVENS & WILLIAMS, the Stem is POMONA GREEN CUT TO CLEAR GLASS and has Distinctive Floral Engraving which is attributed to Master Copper Wheel ENGRAVER & CUTTER JOSHUA HODGETTS (b.1857 - d.1933). The glass quality is nothing short of awe inspiring with amazing clarity and bell like resonance which sings with the slightest tap. Engraved on the bottom, "England". Joshua Hodgetts Intaglio engraver on clear & cased glass has resulted in some of the most elegant, stylish and sophisticated designs ever to come out of Stourbridge. Working alongside Hodgetts was the well known established Frederick Carder who together created some of the most gorgeous pieces of their day. Of course, any cut to clear item by Stevens & Williams is unique and unusual; and in that we interpret extremely collectible and highly valuable. STOURBRIDGE, ENGLAND, A round bowl with excellent intaglio cut decoration. Stem Knob stem found on a different bowl on page 45.
