Description: A stunningly beautiful Victorian Louis pattern antique sterling silver Coffee pot. Hallmarked for London 1860. From the English silversmith Thomas Smily of London. All hallmarks present for sterling (lion .925), London (lepoards head), makers mark (T.S), date (e 1860), and duty mark (Victoria head). It is also marked for sterling and the other marks on the handle. The coffeepot is decorated with raised floral motifs and S and C scrolls, reminiscent of Rococo silver work... elaborately embossed body depicting flowers, leaves, shells and swirls and resting on detailed feet. The finial features a bird on a flower cluster. The coffee pot is without monograms or presentation engravings. Beautiful condition...No dents, flaws or repairs found...very minor wear. The teapot is approx 10 1/4” tall, and 9 1/2" wide from spout tip to width of handle. Weight is 960 grams Please note...As with any antique, care must be taken when handling or using this item for purposes other than display. (I have been advised that the ivory insulators in handles of very old teapots can shrink over time and detach, and although the teapot handle appears to be secure...so please be aware and handle your antique carefully ) No returns for a teapot with a broken handle.
