Description: For a complete description and condition grading, please read the full description before purchasing! A decent Stanley No. 14 round head hickory mallet with iron rings. This style was produced by Stanley from the 1890's to the 1920's. It has a few issues including checking and damage on the sides of the head and loose iron rings. The iron rings on the No. 14 were secured by a wedge on either side of face (1 on each side of each face, driven in towards the center of the mallet thus expanding the face and tightening the rings). The wedges would be further driven in with natural use of the mallet, ensuring the iron rings never come loose. However, these have indeed come loose - either from age or damage. There is also a bent nail in one of the faces. It is not likely to be a user without repair, but will make a nice addition to fill a hole in your antique mallet collection, hand tool collection, or Stanley tools collection. Minor deficiencies - owner's initials, nicks, etc. GOOD MINUS: 50-65% of original finish remaining. Has seen hard use, but remains serviceable. Scratches, nicks, dents, cracks, chips, improper replacement parts. FAIR: 25-50% of original finish remaining. Heavy wear and rust. Some parts are broken, missing, or improper - serious flaws.
