Description: This is silver plate over copper base, oval, lid with handles, serving dish with decorative rope edge made by the Sheffield Silver Co of Brooklyn, NY c.1930. It has NO LEGIBLE MARKS as they have been polished off, but it matches another piece in the estate lot where the marks are legible. The dish is 11" long total with 10" long interior area. It is 6" wide at center. It is 2" deep with a 1.75" rise on the lid for total height of .3.75". Weight is 2 lb 5 oz. Lovely piece in very good condition. There are some spots in the underside of the lid where you can see the copper base coming through. No dents and no visible scratches. It is from a well curated lot of silver plate pieces from an estate in rural central eastern Illinois. It arrived untarnished and has only been lightly polished with a silver cloth.
