I have examined the case all over and I can see no sign of brassing ( where the plate has worn) I am convinced it is silver. One should assume continental grade rather than sterling. I refuse to start filing this fine watch to acid test it. Nice to have an old box which comes with this watch.approx 4.8cm diameter
