Description: Lovely antique floral demitasse cup and saucer set marked "RC (Rosenthal) Germany Sanssouci" and "Monbijou," with other handwritten red numbers on the bottom. I don't know all the Rosenthal marks but I believe this dates to the early 20th century; Sanssouci refers to the collection; and Monbijou refers to the gently scalloped shape. It looks like there is a combination of hand painting and transfer in the design, which is purple flowers with raised enamel details, gold filigree and trim around the edges, on a white ground. The dainty cup measures 2" tall and 2" in diameter across the opening, and the saucer measures 4 1/4" in diameter. Both pieces are in excellent condition with no chips or cracks in the porcelain and no evident wear to the decoration. Beautiful set to add to an antique cup and saucer collection!
