Description: Unknown Tile Maker, Portugal Circa 1900 This listing is for ONE TILE. Measures 5 1/8" x 5 1/8" x 1/4" thick. Smooth satiny finish. Very good condition with small edge chips/minor wear. Lovely Delft-style glossy antique tiles from Portugal, over 100 years old. Made using the flow blue process, the cobalt blue blurs during firing by adding lime and/or ammonium chloride to the kiln. The intensity of the “flow” varies, and can be seen in the photo. Last 3 photos show design ideas we put together with our many blue and white Portuguese tiles.
