Description: This is a wonderful antique porcelain flour jar with a hinged wooden lid. It is attached to its original wood base and has the original wood hinged top. The base attaches to the vessel with two wooden "nuts" inside the jar. These are removable as they screw/unscrew to two screws attached to the base. The jar features a stunning blue painted designs on a white background in traditional Blue Onion style Mehl (German for "flour") is painted in gold script on the front. No chips or cracks in the porcelain. Wood portions in excellent condition with original hardware Manufacturer is unknown. When I purchased it in the early 90's it was sold as a Meissen piece. However there is no signature that I can find to confirm that description. It has been displayed in the glass china cabinet of my smoke free home for approximately 30 years. Antique, sold as is. Entire piece is 12" tall. The porcelain jar with lid is 6-3/4" tall. 6.5" wide at the widest point. Avoid shipping charges with Free local pickup available in either Chelmsford MA or Laconia NH.
