This is an original antique lamp made of cast iron and brassThe top metal 3-arm piece is made by Pilabrasco (Pittsburg Brass & Glass co) and the cast iron base has a name we can't quite make out and starts with "Royal..."The lamp is in the style of a converted gas lampThe wiring has been updated at some point in its history and is in great condition, with just some marks here and there on the gold cordingThe brass socket has been cleaned and tested, and is working wellThe top insert cap with the finial post is a later addition and is removable if you want just the exposed ring / circle for your reverse painted / slag glass shade, as it would have been open at the top for a glass chimney originally. ;-) However, the cap and finial makes it functional for different kinds of lamp shades. The socket uses one standard-base bulb up to 60 watts, or use an LED bulb for any brightness you like since they use low wattage for bright light. Light bulb not included. Measurements:Total height: 25"Height to the top of the socket: 18"8 1/2" diameter base The ring at the top for holding a shade with a large hole / opening in the top of the shade can hold a shade with a diameter of approximately 3 1/4" up to just under 3 3/4" (the outer edge of the holder is 3 3/4"). If you have a larger opening on your shade and want to set the shade on the heat cap that is just below the finial, the opening can be approximately 4" to 4 1/4". Or, you can add your own heat cap with your preferred size. :)Or, you can use a shade with a finial hole.
