Description: Antique Pewter German Beer Stein Heavy 19th century lidded tankard, old European metal work!9” inches tall3.5” inches at widest, not counting handleInscribed with original owner’s name: J M. HärtleinInscribed with year: 1832With hinged lidWith handle This amazing old piece has been in the family, at least the German side of the family, since the 19th century. It is inscribed with its original owners name as well as the year 1832. It’s hard to come up with a price for such a thing; it’s not sterling silver, unlike some of the items it was mixed in with, but it is inscribed 1832, and no other hallmarking. We presume it came from Augsburg, where the other items came from. Talk to me if interested; this piece could be cleaned up and put in a museum exhibit showing everyday continental life in the first half of the 19th century! This mug is quite heavy, being made of pewter, which is why the shipping cost is also high. Please see the photos for complete description of the item as well as the complete description of the item’s condition. Thanks for looking!
