Description: This lovely bowl is a true antique. It is marked on the back "Hand Painted" and "Nippon". While I have been unable to identify the maker from the partial logo, this is enough to date this bowl to between 1891 and 1922. It features a pattern of yellow flower blossoms and, what looks like, blue berries. The floral design is bordered by a green band on the bottom of the bowl and a cobalt blue striped band at the top of the bowl. Throughout the design, gilt details and accents have been added. The top edge and handle openings were originally gilted, but much of that gilt has worn off. Still, the bowl is quite striking and a beautiful piece of antique Japanese porcelain. Length: 7 1/4" Width: 6 1/2" Height: 1 1/2" to top of handles No cracks or crazing. The bottom foot has 1 chip. The inside of the bottom foot is rough. There is a depression on the side that looks like something pressed against it during creation, when the porcelain was soft. It is covered with glaze. There are signs of use consistent with age and use. See photos for condition details.
