Description: Rare Minton Majolica Tortoise Teapot And Cover. Date cypher for 1878. A fabulous novelty teapot by the renowned Minton factory. The body of the teapot modelled as a tortoise/ turtle, its head protruding from its shell and the handle forming its tail. The cover and finial modelled as a shell and seaweed. In fabulous condition; some minor detritus, flea-bites to glaze here and there and some minor excellent professional restoration undertaken by a restorer from the prestigious West Dene College of fine art and antique conservation. Full Minton factory impressed marks to base including Minton date cypher for 1878, part shape number for 629 and impressed Mintons. A wonderful original Victorian example of this now rare model. Previous examples have commanded in excess of 20 k at auction both here in the UK and in the States, one with the same shape number and date cypher selling at Christies in 2013 for $50,00 Will send Internationally but ALL customs duties and taxes are the sole responsibility of the buyer. Once the teapot has left the UK, any delays/ issues with customs or individual country borders are outside of my control and chill been to vectaken up with that individual country department by the buyer. I will only send with appropriate tracking, compensation for loss or damage and signed-for recorded delivery to the buyers registered address.
