Description: This Mason’s Consolidated Fruit Jar Company jar was produced in the mid 1800s. Despite being over 150 years old, it is in remarkably good condition. There is some light chipping around the lip of the jar (common from using the lid and utensils in the jar), there are no other chips on the jar. The exterior, embossing and bottom are completely free of chips, no cracks. The color is a light aqua. The back of the jar has a CFJC logo embossed on it. The lid is zinc with a glass inlay. This piece of glass is also embossed with the CFJC logo and the words “Consolidated Fruit Jar Co.” and “New York”. The bottom of the jar has “A238” embossed, there is also a “238” on the bottom, going diagonally. The outside of the jar has swirl marks on it, as visible on the photos. These swirls can be felt if you scratch them with your fingernail, like they’re slightly textured, while the rest of the glass is glossy. They don’t come off, and are probably from the manufacturing process. The lid is in good condition and is original to the jar. The jar, with lid on, is 5.75 inches tall and is about 3.25 inches in diameter at the bottom. The mouth opening is 1 5/8 inches in diameter. This jar will be exceptionally well packed to ensure it does not break in shipping.
