Description: Original small map from 1885 of Pompeii on the Slopes of Mount Vesuvius, Italy, taken from the 1:35,000 scale Neopolitan Staff Map. The actual map measures 5" x 4.5" (130mm x 120mm). Excellent condition for age. The map has been carefully extracted from a page of the unusable and dis-bound volume of the renowned Universal Geography by Elisee Reclus. Slight yellowing of the page although some ageing and wear is inevitable for paper nearly 140 years old. It has print on the reverse side. If desired, the map can be scanned to produce a larger print for framing. Please note: this is an original map extracted from a book and is not a modern copy.
