Description: At auction we feature Raphael's Madonna del Granduca - better known from the genre Madonna with Child. Originally painted by Italian artist, Raphael in Florence, Italy, it is perhaps the most contemplative version of the scene of mother holding the baby Savior. Raphael, inspired by Michelangelo, used the "sfumato" technique in his paintings for a misty, soft appearance. Nicknamed "Madonna del Granduca" while the original work was owned by the Grand Duke of Tuscany, the painting dates to 1505. This very old and extremely high quality print measures 8x11 inches, glazed and framed. The colors are rich as when new. The frame is a slender, late Victorian scoop with faux marbleization of reds, greens, and blues surrounded by dusky bronze. Just stunning. There is no fading nor damage on the print. The frame has some scuffing from being over 100 years old. Check out the backing paper with the embossed McCurdy logo, and the green seal of the store's framing department! Thanks for looking, and feel free to ask me questions!
