Giovanni)' LUIGI ROSSINI (1790-1857) ETCHING FROM "Le Antichita Romane" (The Rome of Antiquity)'This is a wonderful original. This piece has been in my personal collection for quite a few years. I acquired it as part of a collection of old master engravings that I have sold in piece meal over the years. I have had some Rossini works in the past and have always felt they are fantastic, quote often, they are better than Piranisi engravings. This is a large example f the architecture with the image measuring 16 1/4 x 21 inches. Overall very good condition. There is a small tear in the upper center and also one in the lower left corner. There is some faint staining in spots in the image and more along the edges. Print has been archival matted and framed in a stunning new frame. A few minor scrapes and dirt spots but nothing too bad. Really an outstanding presentation of this great original engraving. I have not taken this out of the frame in order to inspect the entire print but can see some minor rippling so I dont believe this print is laid down. Frame measures 25 3/4 x 29 1/4 inches.
