Description: This daybed is a beautiful piece. The wood has a "burled" look and gorgeous patina. The grain is different from mahogany or walnut. We've wondered if it's an odd variety from Europe or South America. It has a horsehair mattress and original bolsters. Construction - This is made in similar fashion to an antique bed with the headboard, footboard and two long side slats. The mattress is on top of a custom box that sits on top of the day bed. The long side slats hold it it place with no need for horizontal slats.
