Description: An early to mid 1800's thick leather lock cover with lid lifter. This was removed from a Jenny Lind / Stagecoach style trunk of the 1850's. Measures 7 3/4" tall by 5 1/2" wide. The leather is dark brown and has age wear, but the leather is flexible and not hard and brittle. It has also been treated with leather preservative a couple times. This would be great to complete a restoration on an early trunk that would be a show piece. The leather is 1/8" thick. It doesn't have a tie down strap but that would be easy to make if desired.
